The truth is that Zuko isn’t really an alternative to Hotjar for form tracking nowadays. Hotjar discontinued their form analytics tool in 2020 so there is very little crossover between the two platforms.
This means that when you compare Zuko and Hotjar you they are essentially now complementary rather than competing products. The feature sets mesh together nicely to give our mutual customers the best of all worlds: Zuko for in-depth form tracking and insight, Hotjar for a broader set of UX ideation tools.
Indeed, the affordable pricing of both platforms means that it is not uncommon for businesses to use both in tandem. We have many mutual customers who appreciate the benefits that each tool can bring to them when it comes to conversion rate optimization.
That said, what would a feature comparison be without a table? For what it’s worth, here is the form analytics comparison but, it’s obviously pretty skewed given that Hotjar retired basically all of their form tracking functionality:
As mentioned above, there is not much overlap between the two products meaning we both have our own specialities. Zuko focuses on forms while Hotjar delivers heat mapping, session replay, surveys and feedback.
Hotjar is positioned very firmly at the mid-market meaning their prices are competitive. Their basic business package for all services starts at €143 per month although this does only give you limited volumes (500 sessions per day). This scales up based on the number of sessions you want to track.
These costs are similar to Zuko which starts subscriptions at €125 per month for 10,000 monthly sessions with higher tiers available.
"Now Hotjar is no longer offering form analytics, Zuko is the perfect complement. It builds on Hotjar reports by delivering in-depth field level insights enabling you to optimise the sharp end of your acquisition funnel."
